Integrating Digital Map Table into XR Solutions

Enhancing Mission Planning with XR.

Effective mission planning and execution require real-time data visualization and collaboration. To meet this need, HOLOGATE has integrated the Fraunhofer Digital Map Table (DigLT) into the modular HGXR platform as part of their collaboration with the German Army’s Wehrtechnische Dienststelle 91 (WTD 91) of the German Army and in partnership with the Fraunhofer Institute for Optronics, System Technologies, and Image Exploitation (IOSB).

This integration provides a modern situational visualization tool that enables users to analyze, plan, educate, and operate in a dynamic, immersive XR environment where mission-critical data is instantly accessible and interactive.

Multi-Layered Visualization and Real-Time Data Access

Developed by Fraunhofer IOSB, the Digital Map Table allows multiple perspectives on a mapped area. The DigLT offers a clear and adaptable tactical overview by combining 2D and 3D data, including live sensor data, reconnaissance imagery, operational metadata, and point clouds. Users can filter, analyze, and mark displayed information using functions like drawing tools, tactical symbols, line-of-sight calculations, and a timeline function to track movements and analyze past operations.

The interaction with live data in real-time ensures dynamic updates and improved decision-making. Customizable and adjustable data layers provide enhanced situational awareness, making planning and execution more efficient.

Now, with its integration into HOLOGATE XR technology, the Digital Map Table continues to evolve.

XR-Powered Mission Execution and Training

HOLOGATE XR solutions are built on a modular, open-platform architecture, enabling smooth integration of third-party applications like the Digital Map Table. This design ensures flexibility, interoperability, and scalability, allowing for diverse applications within a single system. With its future-ready approach, the platform adapts to evolving operational needs, providing a versatile and efficient solution across a wide range of industries.

XR technology provides a cost-effective solution, enabling true 3D visualization of geospatial data. The integration of DigLT into HGXR’s modular XR platform makes full-scale virtual terrain walkthroughs in 1:1 scale possible. This allows personnel to explore operational areas, assess environments, and conduct mission briefings in a shared virtual space.

The ability to virtually “jump” into mission locations, interact with real-time data, and actively explore the environment ensures more precise planning, simulation, and execution. This immersive approach allows teams to visualize operational scenarios before deployment, reducing risk and enhancing strategic coordination.

With the integration of the Digital Map Table, HOLOGATE, together with the WTD 91 and Fraunhofer IOSB, is setting a new benchmark for XR-powered mission planning, delivering cutting-edge solutions for defense, security, and beyond.
