The Cantonal Police of Basel Stadt in Switzerland are taking a new approach to preparing officers for real world operations. In a dedicated XR training environment police teams can rehearse complex situations in virtual reality. These range from routine identity checks to escalating incidents that require quick decisions, clear communication and coordinated teamwork.
Using the HGXR system by HOLOGATE, officers step into immersive scenarios where situations evolve dynamically and decisions have consequences within the simulation. Instructors can observe the session in real time, adjust scenarios during the exercise and review the training afterwards with the team.
This type of training allows situations to be repeated, adapted and analyzed. In the real world such scenarios would often be difficult, costly or unsafe to recreate. For police training this means officers can practice responding to unpredictable situations while improving situational awareness, communication and decision making under pressure.
“Training is most effective when people can experience situations rather than only talk about them. Immersive technologies allow teams to explore complex scenarios, test decisions and learn from outcomes in a safe environment before facing them in the real world.” - Leif Petersen, CEO and Founder, HOLOGATE

Developed in close collaboration with our clients and partners, the platform enables instructors to create and modify training scenarios, analyze exercises after completion and run immersive multi user training sessions that prepare teams for real operational challenges.
By bringing complex situations into a controlled virtual environment, police forces like the Basel Stadt Police can train more frequently and closer to real world conditions while keeping training flexible, scalable and safe.
